The Maidens

From Alex Michaelides, author of The Silent Patient, comes a tense psychological thriller set within the historic walls of Cambridge University. When a student is found dead, Mariana Andros, a grieving psychotherapist, travels to the university to support her niece Zoe. Her suspicions immediately fall upon Edward Fosca, an untouchable and charismatic professor of Greek tragedy who is idolised by both staff and a tight-knit secret circle of female students called The Maidens.

Mariana becomes convinced that Fosca hides a dark truth behind his charming facade and his academic focus on ancient rites of the underworld. As another student is killed, her mission to expose the professor turns into a perilous fixation. With her personal life, relationships, and professional reputation unravelling, Mariana remains determined to halt the killings before she loses everything. It is a dark, compulsive read ideal for general readers who enjoy literary crime, academic settings, and gripping mysteries.
