About this book

JACKSON AND WICKLIN MUCUNGUZI collectively hold three master's degrees in MBA (Oil and Gas Management), M.A. in Peace and Governance Studies, and Master of Public Administration. Afande Jackson Mucunguzi is a PhD scholar at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Kampala, where he is researching on public perceptions on the family institution and community policing strategy. Together, the couple is blessed with three wonderful children and cares for many dependants. The Mucunguzis are passionate advocates for family stability, they have co-authored several books promoting happy marriages, positive parenting, self-love, and holistic self-care. Parenting today goes beyond providing food, clothing, education, and shelter. In a world shaped by smartphones, social media, online entertainment, fast food, and instant gratification, parents must intentionally raise children who remain connected to their families, values, and God. This book examines the pressures facing Ugandan families. including parental absence, excessive screen time, social media influence, weak discipline, and unsupervised internet access. It emphasizes that provision is not presence: children need guidance, love, prayer, emotional security, and parents who are genuinely present. The book provides practical ideas and activities to help parents reconnect with their children, rebuild meaningful relationships, create quality family time, and become emotionally present again. It challenges parents to use technology as a servant rather than allowing it to replace parenting, while intentionally raising children who are disciplined, responsible, resilient, morally grounded, emotionally secure, and rooted in God. The greatest gift a parent can give a child is not everything money can buy, but the gift of their presence.
